A look from the Palladian Basilica

Writer's picture: Palladian RoutesPalladian Routes

Admire the square from one of the loggias and feel like a Renaissance merchant who has come to Vicenza for noble business.

The Basilica Palladiana captivates those who look at it from the main square of Vicenza, and is the result of a renovation brilliantly conceived by Andrea Palladio, who won with his project over other very high minds of the architecture of the time.

The Serlians give solidity and harmony to the complex, but don't they also recall a magnificent and solemn Triumphal Arch?

Another of the architect's ways of combining the noble ancient history with the more practical functions of the life of commerce.

Palladio never saw his Basilica complete, but in his mind, every piece of it was complete, every decoration, every column was in its place.

More fortunate, today we can enjoy its majestic view from every corner of Piazza dei Signori and continue to dream of its events.
