One of our Palladian E-bikes bears the name of Daphne, the nymph of classical mythology who inhabited the fresh waters of rivers and streams.
Ovid tells her story the Metamorphoses: beautiful, she made the God Apollo fall at her feet, he longed for her attention and love, perhaps deceived by Eros's arrow.
But brave Daphne, she refused him. Apollo chased her until the Nymph, exhausted, clamored for the help of Gaea, the Earth Mother, who pityingly transformed her into a Laurel tree. Her hair became rustling fronds, her breasts were covered with a hard bark and her fingers were leaves until finally nothing of Daphne's admirable face remained visible. Everything had become a plant.
An admirable fresco depicts the story of Daphne, in the Putto room at Villa Dei Vescovi, on the Euganean Hills, where we will take you on your Palladian E-Bike.
