The Delight of Mantegna

The eye gets lost, the spirit rises and the mind tries to understand such Beauty.

Probably we are in front of a work by Andrea Mantegna.

The painter, citizen of the Republic of Venice, but trained in Padua, delighted with his works the most important courts of XV century and after working at the Gonzaga, he moved to Rome and Florence.

Right here, we find the Triptych of the Uffizi: the area of creation of the painting is not yet certain, for some it is a work from Mantua arrived who knows how in Florence, for other scholars instead, the wooden panels were painted by Mantegna during one of his stays in Tuscany. Others, however, trace the origin of the work back to the last Paduan period of the painter.

The Mantegna also here amazes us with the details and the architecture at a high level of realism. Every rock, every cloth, every shoe placed on the ground seems to be alive and the level of solemnity of the works is very high, almost prayers transposed on the wood.

Truth, research of the High and precision. This is the Mantegna that we find in Tuscany, mature and harmonious.
